30 years ago, two young, independent guys, newly minted general contractors, walked into a coffee house.  They knew a little about life, swinging a hammer and putting buildings together.  Over a cup a coffee, for the next six months, on a weekly basis, they discussed their potential future.

Eventually their conversations led to a decision to proceed, based on an agreement of three themes…

  1. They would always strive to do the best work, no matter what, even if it cost them money in the short run.
  2. They would always have a clean and accurate set of financial records.
  3. They would always “own” their mistakes; that it was expected and encouraged to admit them, and to share what they learned as soon as possible.
